As of mid 2009 we know of Eremos Groups that are meeting regularly in the Blue Mountains and the Sydney region for Books for Groups discussions.
Refer to the Groups or Books pages on our website for more information.
We also have at least ten people in other regions who are willing to be a contact person for Eremos and who might help in establishing a group in their region. Refer to page 40 of any of the recent EREMOS magazines for further details. Contact people from every State and Territory across Australia are listed there!
Support for starting a group is available from our honorary Coordinator: Sue Emeleus. Contact Sue via the email address below.
Proposed Eremos Group for Northern Beaches (Sydney, NSW)
Colin and Gai Bradford are looking to start an Eremos group in the Northern Beaches region of Sydney, initially meeting at their home in Elanora Heights. Format and frequency of meetings could be decided by those who show interest and/or attend our first gathering.Email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Colin is retired Uniting Church minister with a progressive theology. Both Colin and Gai are interested in meeting with others to explore the diversity of spirituality. Contact us on (02) 9913 1902 or the email address below.
This recently formed group meets on the third Sunday in the month from 4pm- 6pm and there is a meal for those who can stay afterwards. Everyone is invited to bring something to share.
We are a very democratic group and leadership is on a voluntary basis. Whoever is leading a particular session provides whatever pre-reading or activity may be necessary beforehand and then leads the group on the day.
So far our topics have been generated by the group at the previous session. We encourage freedom of thought and expression of our spirituality and share our faith journeys.
All are welcome and accepted. Contact Nanoya Barrett, Eremos Group regional contact person via the email address below.
Hills Area, Sydney (NSW)
The Baulkham Hills Eremos Group are planning to begin the new year in February studying the book, Minding the Earth, Mending the World, by Zen practitioner Susan Murphy.Email: email@example.com
In the tradition of eco-theologian Thomas Berry, she offers a profoundly hopeful second chance to engage with what it means to deeply mind the earth once more by reimagining the stories we have told ourselves about the world and illuminating the ways humanity might become the solution, rather than the problem.
These gatherings will be held on the first Thursday in the month at 7.30 p.m beginning on February 7th. Enquiries welcome from persons who may like to join.
