Thomas Berry died at his birthplace, Greensboro, North Carolina, on 1 June this year at the age of 94. Berry shot to international fame in1988 with the publication of his provocative book The Dream of the Earth. It was said of this work that it ‘recast our understanding of science, technology, economics, governance, religion, (and) education…and established the philosophical ground for a bioregional mode of inhabiting the earth.’ It is a big claim, but accurate.
