On 23 December Australia heard Rachael Kohn’s last ever episode of The Spirit of Things ending a 26 year career covering religion on the ABC. She reversed roles and was interviewed for this last program by Barney Zwartz, former religion editor of The Age and Senior Fellow at the Centre for Public Christianity.

The program, which is available on podcast,  https://www.abc.net.au/radionational/programs/spiritofthings/rachaels-last-show/10632176  offers a retrospective her career as she reflects on the religious expressions and spiritual movements of three decades,  a time of huge change in our world. Sharing stories about some of her more memorable interviews and fascinating accounts of encounters are just some of the delights in this program.

Rachael completes her time on the airwaves in the well informed and insightful manner we have come to appreciate from her. It’s fascinating listening and this listener could not help but be aware of the huge gap left by Rachael’s departure from religious broadcasting.

I appreciate what Debb on the Catholica Forum wrote about her, “Of all the people who have done "religious" program on ABC radio over the years, Rachael Kohn is the one who has demonstrated intense, abiding interest in all forms of the spiritual quest....Her fascination for all things to do with human pilgrimage is infectious.”

From your friends and fans at Eremos, Rachael, we wish you well and hope we see and hear you in the public sphere again soon!
